United Fire Company's Station 3 units were called to assist an Animal Control Officer in Baker Park. When units arrived, they were advised that there was a feline in distress in the flood control project of Baker Park at Carroll Creek. Engine 31's crew assessed the situation initially and determined the need for the Rescue Squad to assist. Rescue Squad 3's crew along with the engine company erected an overland rope rescue rig to affect the rescue. Swift Water Rescue Technicians Larry Kessler and Jeffrey Stull were outfitted with their personnel protective equipment and a ladder was deployed to get to the uppermost portion of the flood control project. Once on that level, the technicians utilized a catch pole with a net, from the Animal Control Officer, to perform the rescue. The terrified feline was rescued from it's perch within minutes to the cheers and applause from the growing crowd of spectators. The Animal Control Officer took possesion of the feline and the crews returned to service.
