August 9, 2012

Just after dinner and a few thunderstorms pass through Frederick city. Box alarm 31-12 was sounded for fire at the Tampko Ashalt Co. Company 31 units arrived on scene with normal conditions. Plant staff confirmed there was a fire with in the facility believed to be confined to a mixer. The rapid intervention dispatch was requested as the 1st alarm assignment arrived and stretched multiple hand lines into the plant. Battalion 901 held the command as Chief 3 assumed the division 1 supervisor role. Crews located a small fire confined in a mixer as reported earlier. The mixer was opened after protection lines were in place and the fire was extinguished. Units returned to service a short time later.
