| Frederick police are investigating a shooting in downtown Frederick early this morning.
Officers responded to the 100 block of West South Street at about 3 a.m. for a report of shots fired, finding a 43-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Lt. Shawn Martyak said in a news release.
The man was taken to Frederick Municipal Airport, where he was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma in Baltimore, he underwent emergency surgery. An update on the man's condition was not available.
Martyak said a preliminary investigation indicates the victim and the shooter likely knew each other.
