Yet again a contractor has struck a gas line with in blocks of the station 3. This time in a alley way between the social services building and a historical building in the area of south Carroll and east all saints streets. Company 3 units arrived on scene to find a gas feed struck on commerce street. This is supplied at a rate of 25psi. The odor of gas could be smelled for blocks. E31 established there own water supply and pulled a protection line. The officer of rescue squad 3 assigned the "evac" supervisor started evacuating the effected buildings along with monitoring. Duty 3 also on the scene established the command and requested additonal units for monitoring and the gas company to secure the leak. Washington gas arrived on scene secured the leak and with the assistance from the units on the scene completed another round of monitoring in order to clear the buildings so they could be reoccupied. Crews operated on the scene for just over a hour and then returned to service. Job well done by all !
