This weekend, antique units from the Frederick County area were on display along Carroll Creek in Downtown Frederick. Several pieces from the United Fire Company were on hand for the public to view including the "Old Lady" with her hose cart in tow and our hose reel. Also on hand were hose reels from the Independent Hose Company, also known as "Romeo", New Windsor Fire Department, and Vigilant Hose Company in Emmitsburg. The Jefferson Fire Company and New Market Fire Company were also represented by their chemical wagons.
In addition to the apparatus on display along the creek, the C. Burr Artz Library also has two displays set up in the entry way to their building. The displays focus on the involvement of the local fire departments in the activities leading up to and during the Civil War.
