Well, the rain may have stopped before they arrived, but an overcast Sunday morning greeted crews from Companies 3, 1, and 2 who were on site for a series of training burns at the Frederick County Training Center on Reichs Ford Road. The training organizers divided the personnel into four engine crews assigned to complete the duties of the initial attack crew, backup crew, secondary attack crew, and the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). Additionally, a crew of new personnel who had never been in a burn before were able to get their first tastes of fire. By the end of the day, the crews completed five evolutions and walked away with several lessons learned.
Thanks go out to our igniters and interior safety personnel, without their hard work, today would not have been as successful as it was. Special thanks also go out to the crew of Canteen 1, who helped keep us hydrated and fed throughout the day. Good job to all and thank you for making the day a great one!
