Seconds after the fireworks display commenced at Frederick's Independence Day Celebration in Baker Park; the crew at Emergency Communications struck Box 2-7 for the building fire at Foodpro Corporation, 321 East Fifth Street.
Company 2 units were first on scene with fire showing from the roof. Duty 3 arrived to establish Command and designated the Amb. 29 as the two out unit while the crew from Eng. 22 proceeded to make entry to the building. E-31 arrived to pick up E-22's line at the hydrant and Truck 41 set up on Side A to ladder the roof. Upon further investigation, crews from Tr-41 and E-31 found and extinguished a small fire on the roof.
During his response to the incident, Safety 901 (Thomas) reported a car fire in an automotive junk yard directly across from the Foodpro Corp. and uncommitted units from the box alarm were redirected to that location. Due to the close proximity of the two incidents, Command requested additional assistance from the Fire Marshall's Office.
