By Officer John Arnold
June 10, 2009

Shortly after midnight the tones dropped for a report of a man on fire in the 500blk of Logan Street. As units checked on the air, Communications advised they had recieved numberous calls that a man had doused himself with gasoline and set himself on fire.

While enroute, EMS901 (PM Gordon) requested MSP trooper 3 be added to the call. Medic 2 arrived first to confirming initial reports and advised he had a adult male with burns over 90 percent of his body. A38 and E31 arrived moments later and ensured the fire was extinguished and found a second fire in the back yard. Meanwhile EMS providers initiated patient care. Upon the arrival of Chief 3, Unified Command was established with the Frederick City Police. In addition to Rescue Squad 3 for lighting, Command requested the assistance of the County and State Fire Marshall's Office for the investigation. The patient was packaged and taken to the MSP helipad for transport to an area burn center. Units remained on scene well into the night to assist with the investigation.
