After a long two days of rain and a couple of minor accidents in the city Station 3 was alerted for a single vehicle crash with one pinned. Units were dispatched to Interstate 70 at the 56mm but the crash was located on Interstate 70 East of Spring Ridge Parkway. Duty 3 arrived to find a flatbed truck that had rolled over the guard rail and was on its side with one occupant still inside. Command was established and rescue squad went to work. The patient was extricated in 31 minutes. The extrication was complicated due to the construction of the truck and its position. Rescue Squad 3 and Engine 31's crew lead by LT. Pryce had to stabilize the truck using a winch and ZMAG strut system along with some tow straps. The rescue effort was also complicated due to the soft grass the truck was resting on due to the rain. Engine 22's crew handled traffic control and a suppression line for the extrication. The patient was removed and taken by ground via Medic Ambulance 29 to a trauma center for further care. An additional Rescue Squad was requested "Carroll Rescue 1" but cancelled while enroute. Once the vehicle was up righted HIRT 31 was requested for some fluid loss to be cleaned up.
