On Monday April 20, 2009 the Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association along with the FCVFRA Ladies Auxiliary held its sixteenth annual Recognition Ceremony at the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company, No. 11. The following members of the department were among those receiving recognition. Jolene Miller was the recipient of the James H. Stavely III Fire Prevention Award. The department as a whole was the recipient of the FCVFRA Training Award. Chief Jerry W. Dorsey was the recipient of the Michael Wilcom Officer of the Year Award. Chief Dorsey presented the Charles "Mutt" Deater Apprentice of the Year Award and President Morgan presented the Millard "Mick" Mastrino Instructor/Safety Trainer Award. Congratulations to all of the recognition recipients.
