By Chief Officer Brendan Beaton
April 17, 2009
Friday, April 17 the Department of Fire/Rescue Services held their annual Meritorious Service Awards Program at Winchester Hall in Frederick. Several DFRS employees along with some volunteer personnel were honored for heroism while operating on a variety of incidents throughout the county. Director Eugene Mellin read aloud the particulars of each incident while personnel approached the front of the room to receive their respective certificates, plaques, etc. Bureau Chief Douglas Brown reiterated the sentiments of Director Mellin stating that without the personnel on the floor working day in and day out, his position wouldn't be warranted. It's the hard working men and women putting their collective lives on the line each and every day that makes the difference.
