As you are aware, on October 9, 2008, a protocol change went into effect which requires medical consultation for all medevac requests for trauma Category "C" or Category "D" patients. Additionally, MIEMSS is mandating that all EMT-Basics, CRT-Is, and EMT-Paramedics successfully complete a 28-minute presentation on the protocol change and trauma category review. EMS providers have two options to successfully complete this con-ed segment covering this content: on their own through the MIEMSS website, or as a group by a jurisdictionally- or medical director-approved instructor. Providers and instructors should go to www.miemss.org to obtain instructions on how to attend or deliver this presentation. Please note, all EMS providers must complete this 28-minute presentation by February 1, 2009.
Providers (individuals) viewing the continuing education on their own are required to enter their MIEMSS provider ID number on the site for tracking purposes. All providers are required to view the presentation in its entirety in order to get full credit. Once MIEMSS verifies that the provider has watched all of the presentation, credit will be added to the provider's continuing education record.
If there are any problems encountered while watching the presentation, feel free to call 410-982-7284. Thank you for your continued dedication to Maryland's EMS System!
