By Chief Officer Michael Kehne
August 18, 2008

At approx. 1140 hours Box 25-1 was struck for the house on fire, as units marked up Safety 901 arrived on the scene with a 1 1/2 story rancher with smoke showing from the attic. Duty 15 arrived and assumed Command from Safety 901 and requested the task force due to class 4 conditions in the county. Engine Tanker 254 arrived and dropped a supply line from the end of the driveway and advanced 1 3/4 handline to the first floor. Chief 3-2 arrived and reported to Command, Command advised C3-2 to handle interior operations. Once inside Division 1 reported fire on the 1st floor as well as a room off in the basement. ET 254 handled the fire on the first floor as ET 154 put a knock on the fire in the basement. After a little bit checking for hot spots and opening up the fire was determined to be out and all personnel went to rehab, awaiting the FM office to investigate the scene. Command downscaled the incident at that time, overhaul was started, ventilation was completed and all searches were negative. Once overhaul was completed Command was terminated and units started going in service, the red cross was called to assist the family, and two pets were lost in the incident.
