Company 31 along with Rescue Squad 3 was dispatched for a vehicle collision at the intersection of Ballenger Creek Pike and Crestwood Boulevard. Chief 3-1 arrived on the scene to find approximately 4-5 vehicles involved with subjects still in some of the vehicles. Engine 311 and Ambulance 319 arrived on the scene and began assessing patients and stabilizing one of the vehicles. Rescue Squad 3's crew continued stabilizing the initial vehicle as well as a second vehicle. Crews' assessment of the patients determined the need for an additional Basic Life Support transport unit as well as a Frederick County Advanced Life Support unit. Crews worked on packaging two patients initially as well as a third. Frederick County Sheriff's Office Deputies controlled and diverted traffic with the assistance of the State Highway Administration's C.H.A.R.T. division. Three patients were transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital via Ambulance 319 and Ambulance 38.
