| Units from United Fire Company's Stations 3 and 33 were alerted for a vehicle collision reported to be a rollover on Interstate 70 in the area of the 56 mile marker westbound. Ambulance 339 arrived on the scene to find a single Sport Utility Vehicle on the shoulder with damage to a roadside sign and tire tracks on the embankment. Further investigation revealed only a property damage collision. Maryland State Police and the Maryland State Highway Administration were on the scene. Chief 3-1 clearing units from this incident, as ready. Approximately 5 to 7 minutes later, units were dispatched to the same location for a reported second collision. Ambulance 339 and Engine 331 arrived on the scene and had a vehicle on top of another vehicle with two occupants still in the vehicle on the bottom. Chief 3-1 arrived on the scene and established Interstate 70 command, requesting Rescue Squad 3 to stabilize both vehicles. Subjects in the lower vehicle were not entrapped, rather inconvenienced. Crews stabilized the vehicles utilizing Paratech stabilization devices and cribbing. Ambulance crews assessed the subjects and both were removed to Ambulance 339 for further evaluation and transport. Chief 3-1 terminating the command and releasing units, as ready. |
