Fire and Rescue Assist Animal Control

By Assistant Chief Marc McNeal
March 31, 2012

Fire and rescue received a phone call from Frederick County Animal Control Saturday evening asking for assistance with removing an injured goose from the spillway along Carroll Creek. The goose had an injured wing and could not fly.

Fire and rescue personnel lowered a ladder into the spillway and two water rescue Technicians attempted to safely capture and remove the goose. The goose was directed into the underground tunnel where it is hoped that the goose could free itself downstream of the spillway.

Fire and rescue was on the scene in Baker Park for a little over an hour and remained available to respond to emergency calls if needed.
